Azure - Personalize Company Branding
If your company manages multiple applications, having a consistent look and feel on the sign-in pages can enhance your brand’s identity and even support marketing efforts. Azure Active Directory (AAD) allows companies to customize the sign-in experience, aligning it with their branding. This feature is available in the basic and premium editions of Azure Active Directory but is not offered in the free edition. If you don't have a basic or premium subscription, you can start with a free trial of the premium edition.
Activate Free Trial of Azure Active Directory (AAD) Premium Edition
To get started with customizing your company’s branding on Azure sign-in pages, you'll need to activate the Azure Active Directory Premium edition. Here's how:
- Log in to your Azure Management Portal.
- Navigate to the Azure Active Directory you wish to work with.
- Click on the ‘Licenses’ tab at the top of the page.
- Click on ‘Try Azure Active Directory Premium Now’. This will activate the premium features for your directory.
- Refresh the page if needed, as it may take a few seconds for the changes to reflect. Once activated, you'll see the plan listed under the ‘Licenses’ tab.
Customize Branding on the Sign-in Page
Before proceeding with the customization, ensure that the images (logos, background, square background) you plan to use are of the correct sizes and dimensions. Incorrect image specifications can lead to errors and wasted effort. Below are the image specifications:
Image Type | Size in KB | Recommended Dimensions | Maximum Dimensions | Supported Format |
---|---|---|---|---|
Logo | 5-10 | 60-280 | 60-300 | png/jpeg |
Square Logo | 5-10 | 240-240 | 240-240 | png/jpeg |
Square Logo (Dark Theme) | 5-10 | 240-240 | 240-240 | png/jpeg |
Sign-in Page Illustration | 500 (300 recommended) | 1420-1200 | 1420-1200 | png/jpeg/gif |
- Go to the Azure directory where you want to apply branding.
- Click on the ‘Configure’ tab at the top menu.
- Click the ‘Customize Branding’ button. A pop-up window will appear for you to make changes.
- Enter the required details and upload your images according to the specifications.
- Click Next and fill in any additional details as required.
After submitting, watch for notifications at the bottom of the window to ensure your changes have been successfully accepted. If you encounter an error (for example, an incorrect image size), a notification will appear with details on the issue. Click the ‘Details’ button to see the cause of the error, usually related to incorrect image dimensions or file size.
Login with the Customized Sign-in Page
Once the branding changes are successfully applied, signing into your organization’s applications (e.g., Office 365) will display your company’s logo, background illustration, and customized sign-in text.
Important Considerations
- Ensure that your domain name is active and correctly configured.
- Changes to the sign-in page can take up to an hour to appear.
- To test the customized sign-in page, use an ‘In-Private’ browsing session in Internet Explorer or the equivalent in other browsers. This prevents existing cookies from affecting the display of the customized page.
By personalizing your sign-in page, you can provide a seamless and branded experience for users across all your company’s applications, enhancing professionalism and supporting brand identity!
